FIRST DISTRICT PTA COMMEMORATIVE SCHOLARSHIP

The First District PTA Commemorative Scholarship Fund was established to commemorate First District PTA volunteers who were long-time, dedicated child advocates and whose tireless efforts contributed greatly to the benefit of students, parents, and schools within the geographic area of First District PTA.

Commemorative scholarships are awarded in the amount of $800 per winner. Each are awarded to acknowledge graduating high school or college students from First District member PTAs/PTSAs in good standing who have achievements, service, and involvement in the following areas in priority order: 

• 5COMMUNITY SERVICE: volunteerism within the PTA and other organizations

• EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES: work experience, unforeseen life changes

• LEADERSHIP: mentorship roles

• SCHOOL RELATED ACTIVITIES: unit’s school site special interest groups or clubs for performing arts, sports, service, advocacy, religion or student government

• EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: non-school site special interest groups or clubs for performing arts, sports, service, advocacy, religion or student government 

DEADLINE: 5 p.m. Saturday, March 1, 2025

Submissions after the deadline will not be considered. 

Council, college and high school PTAs/PTSAs must be in good standing with California State PTA. Winners will be announced at respective high school and college awards ceremonies.

First District PTA (FDPTA) awards scholarships of $800.00 to support students who are planning to attend a community college, trade or tech school, or a four-year college or university in the fall of 2025. Applicants must be current graduating high school seniors or college students, members of their high school or college PTA/PTSA, have a GPA of at least 2.0, and should have a strong record of community service and/or school activities, hold an after school, part-time, or summer job, and/or manage extra home responsibilities.

The application must be submitted via the online form: First District PTA 2025 Commemorative Scholarship Application. No physical copies will be accepted.

The application includes a personal statement that touches on as many of the essay prompts as are applicable to the student, limited to 500 words. There are four (4) required uploads – a legible copy of the student’s current PTA/PTSA membership card, reference form, the letter of recommendation, and the student’s high school or college transcript.
